In order to be in compliance with European and National regulations on waste water, the Delfland Water Board has established The Hague Region Waste Water project (AHR). Within this project, Delfluent performs the following tasks:
- the construction of the Harnaschpolder waste water treatment plant
- the refurbishment of the existing Houtrust waste water treatment plant and the management and maintenance of both plants, including the associated transport system and pumping stations until December 2033.
Delfluent is a consortium of five national and international specialised companies, which is working on the design, construction, finance and management of the new waste water treatment facilities in the region of The Hague for a period of 30 years. Delfland Water Board, the public authority and employer of Delfluent, has opted for a Public Private Partnership (PPP), the first one in the Dutch water sector.
