Deputy Minister Jack de Vries (Defence) to drive the first pile for PPS Kromhout Barracks

17|03|2009 - On Friday 20th March, Deputy Minister for Defence Jack de Vries will drive the first pile for construction of the Kromhout Barracks in Utrecht. The barracks will provide employment for around three thousand people.

Dutch Ministry of Defence and Komfort sign additional contract

09|03|2009 - At the end of February 2009, Komfort - a cooperation between Ballast Nedam, Strukton, and John Laing - has signed an additional contract with the Dutch Ministry of Defence for the realisation of an additional 1,000 workstations for defence employees at the Kromhout Barracks in Utrecht, The Netherlands.

A European First

The A2 Maastricht steering group announced on June 25 that the A2 Maastricht project will be realised by the Avenue2 consortium, consisting of Strukton and Ballast Nedam. Awarding this contract means the ‘Groene Loper’ plan was selected.

The plan derives its name from the ‘Groene Loper’, a green belt that stretches along the existing A2 zone from north to south through the city. Over a stretch of 2.3 kilometres, the stacked, underground tunnel with 2x2 tunnel sections will offer a great deal of traffic capacity. A tranquil, socially protected park avenue will be built above the tunnel for local traffic.

The consortium partners, Strukton and Ballast Nedam, will receive support from other parties including ARCADIS Nederland, West8 Urban Design & Landscape Architecture, dGmR and Bex* Communicatie.

This project is an example of a complete and sustainable solution offered by Strukton as full-service provider.

The A2 is a PPP project, where the client defined his principle wishes and functional requirements, and Avenue2 as tenderer developed these during discussions with the client to provide an innovative and satisfying proposal for the long-term commitment.
