The Safire Consortium, consisting of ABN AMRO, Burgers Ergon, GTI, ISS Nederland and Strukton, is one of the two selected parties for participation in the last phase of the tender for the Public Private Partnership (PPP) for the renovation of the Ministry of Finance building in The Hague.
This project is the first PPP project for office buildings in The Netherlands and comprises the renovation and redevelopment of the 66,000 square meters building, including the management and maintenance of the building for a period of 25 years. The Government Buildings Agency and the Ministry of Finance hereby give private parties sufficient freedom to enable them to realize the project in an optimal way, in order to achieve the qualitative and financial advantages of PPP compared to a conventional project approach.
Safire combines all the knowledge and experience of its parties to be able to facilitate this innovative approach for the entire duration of the project and distinguishes itself by a transparent approach, high-quality technical knowledge and capacity to think along with creative and innovative solutions. The consortium is supported by the architects Meyer & van Schooten of Amsterdam.
The selection of Safire came after an integral evaluation of the quality and cost of the design of the three bidding parties. After the contract period Safire and the other remaining party will in December 2005 submit their Best and Final Offer (BAFO) to the Government Buildings Agency and the Ministry of Finance. Based on this BAFO the final selection will be made. It is expected that the users will be able to occupy the refurbished building in July 2008.
