On Wednesday 4th June 2008, the State Secretary for Defence, Jack de Vries, and Harbert van der Wildt of Komfort, have signed the DBFMO contract for realisation and management of the Kromhout facilities for approximately two to three thousand defence employees at the barracks site.
This site is to be the base for the operational headquarters of the Royal Netherlands Army and several other departments of the Ministry of Defence. Completion is scheduled for October 2010.
Komfort will build a modern office park for deBarracks in Utrecht. The project concerns the construction of accommodation fence staff in Utrecht, in a green and open setting. In addition to office premises, the site will house sports facilities, a health ce ntre, garage, conferencecentre and living quarters for around 100 staff.
Komfort’s proposition includes all the elements of the design, building, finance, facility services, maintenance and operational services in an integrated 25-year DBFMO (Design, Build, Finance, Maintain, Operate) contract. This agreement represents a value in excess of € 300 million.
On 14th April 2008, Komfort was appointed as preferred bidder following a European tender. The consortium is a cooperation between Ballast Nedam, Strukton and John Laing, who have teamed up with Meyer en Van Schooten Architects, Karres en Brands landschapsarchitecten (landscape architects
and urban planners), and ISS Facility Services.
