Strukton Integrale Projecten has been engaged in the development, management and financing of PPP projects. Strukton Rail is a full-service provider for rail systems in Europe. Together they advocate Public-Private Partnerships in light rail. As their first project, Strukton has formed with NedRailways a consortium called TramTeam Stockholm which has developed an integrated solution for the plan Djurgårdslinen in Stockholm.
PPP in light rail successful in Europe
While Public-Private Partnerships in the light rail sector are still very much a novelty in some countries as the Netherlands, many European countries have long proven the advantages of PPP in this sector. Over 40 PPP light rail concessions in various stages of development were registered throughout Europe in 2008. The UK, Germany, Portugal and recently Belgium have seen a sharp increase in the number of PPP projects.
